My client is a cloud-based business looking to use the cloud as much as possible. They aim to use the cloud to deliver desktop services to their staff and are seeking to hire an individual who comes from this background. They are looking for a passionate IT engineer to support the office environment. Their team of software engineers and data scientists use Linux and cloud services extensively, so managing those will be a key part of the role. The company is growing rapidly so building scaleable solutions using deployment services is essential.RESPONSIBILITIES• Build and maintain an image server for Linux and Windows, to deploy up to date images across the office network.• Purchasing, deploying and maintaining the office network of Windows, Linux and osX workstations, laptops, printers & scanners.• Supporting the users and solving problems.• Security of the IT environment: managing Active Directory users and groups, ensuring workstations are up to date with patches and AV software, administering remote access (Duo, Barracuda), managing root passwords (Lastpass)• Maintaining TVs & Video Conferencing (Skype, Multivoice, Webex, G-hangouts, Chime)• Maintaining all the on-premise infrastructure, including UPS, network switches & cabling, VOIP phones, wifi, ISP, CCTV.• Root ownership and maintenance of a large number of e-platforms and providers, for example: o Atlassian (JIRA and Confluence) o Communications (Slack, G-Suite) o Social media (Twitter, G+, Facebook, Linkedin, Hootsuite) o Domains and certificates (Global sign) o Public website (wpengine, Capeeshe) o IDEs (Mathworks, PyCharm) o Business intelligence (pipedrive, xero, bloomberg, reuters eikon)MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTSThe requirements for the role are:• Two to three years’ experience in a similar role, such as 2nd-line support analyst, in a technology company of between 30 and 300 staff• Hands on experience of Linux desktop e.g. Ubuntu or FedoraNICE TO HAVE REQUIREMENTS• AWS• Microsoft Active Directory• Advanced networking experience, for example DNS and VPN configuration• Degree in a STEM subjectCOMPENSATION• Up to £50,000 plus stock options and a range of excellent benefits

DESCRIPTION In this role, you will be responsible for understanding large, complex datasets and associated algorithms. Due to the nature of the systems and the complexity of the data, this role has a high barrier to entry in terms of Python skills. During the interview process the first thing we need to see demonstrated are those Python skills. You will be reporting to the Data Science team leader, under the CTO. We deal with large sets of data coming directly from matching engines around the globe, along with complementary datasets which are used to understand the matching engine generated data. Your role will involve understanding and processing complex sets of data to enable value to be extracted from it. You will work in a six-person scrum team which operates on two-week sprint cycles. You will be assigned tickets to work on at the start of the sprint and the aim is to finish the tickets by the end of the sprint, which means having your code and/or data in production on the site and available to endusers.YOUR PROFILE As a Data Scientist, you will be able to combine your expertise in Mathematics, Statistics, and Coding in tackling complex data problems whilst being comfortable in a job requiring agility, curiosity, and continuous improvement. We are looking for someone who can very quickly grasp technical concepts and understand how to rapidly solve problems associated with them. The role is for a senior customer facing data scientist (CFDS) with direct industry experience to bridge the gap between the internal technical teams and the customer technical teams, both pre- and post-sale.This role will suit a candidate with a world-class academic pedigree looking for a change in direction, perhaps at a mid-way point in their career. You will be joining a dynamic company that has rapidly achieved great strides in the financial software industry and are growing exponentially. It is an agile environment to work and joining at this point in their history would offer the opportunity to imprint your own style on the role and team. There is a lot of flexibility in the way that you do your job and you will have the support of 2 other Customer Facing Data Scientists who are already at the business.You will ideally have an HFT/market microstructure background. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?• The role is highly varied. The following activities give a flavour of the tasks:• Writing Python Jupyter notebooks to implement scientific papers to show to customers• Regular communication with existing customer scientists, encouraging use of the platform with demos and showing-off new capabilities.• Quickly and efficiently understanding customer needs and pain points.• Attending customer sales meetings when customer scientists will be present. Taking the technical lead in those meetings.• Speaking at conferences, both in the UK and internationally• Your time will be split roughly on 50% on R&D related activities, 50% on customer facing activities. You will be coding and reading scientific papers 85% of your time.
